About UsMy name is Warren Newson and I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. I have been interested in health through natural means pretty well all my adult life and now I'm in my early fifties I'm naturally interested in healthy aging. I'm not a health professional; I'm a professional engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Not being a health professional actually gives me some advantages. I haven't been trained into believing that drugs and surgery are the only ways to fix health problems. And I also am willing to look at potential solutions backed by strong evidence rather than ignoring everything that hasn't been proven by a clinical study. I prefer to prevent a problem if I can. I'd rather look after my bones than have a knee or hip replacement. I'd rather look after my heart and circulatory system than have a triple bypass. And I'd rather look after my brain as well as I can. I think that our health system has things back to front. Our doctors and nurses are highly trained, dedicated, professional and caring, but the health system itself focuses on the wrong end of the health cycle. Billions of dollars are poured into treating preventable health problems. Colossal amounts of money are poured into research and developing new drugs while only a handful of dollars are spent on actual prevention. As an engineer, or even as a thinking person, this seems ludicrous. Would you put cheap Brand X oil in your expensive Mercedes, then pay for expensive repairs years before you should? Of course not. Would you put regular gas in your expensive engine if it should take premium? Again, of course not. And yet as a nation we have no trouble with putting inadequate food in our bodies and then paying later with hip replacements, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, heart bypasses, dementia, and a whole lot more. I also think that this system won't change any time soon. Too much money is tied up in it, and there is too much money to be made out of it. Legal drugs are big money. So if we want a healthy and happy old age we have to educate ourselves. My contribution is this website and other health related websites I have planned. They will all have a major focus on prevention and natural treatments. You will notice that I'm promoting Frank Mangano's e-book The Mind Killer Defence throughout this site. That's because it is entirely in accord with my beliefs, and gives the best information I have come across on how to naturally prevent and treat Alzheimer's. How I Built This WebsiteYou may have guessed that natural health is a bit of a passion of mine. I'd also like to work for myself for a variety of reasons, one of which is that I don't enjoy my day job. So I decided to become a “netrepreneur”, making my money online. I'm not there yet, but I'm working on it! And what could be better than earning your living helping other people? I made a mistake with this website though. I decided to do it the hard way, even though I should have known better. Let me explain. I have another website, www.the-classic-sports-cars.com that I built with Site Build It (SBI). SBI is an all in one web solution, perfect for the newbie and for experienced webmasters. There is a guide that leads you by the hand, it has the best forum I've seen for even more help, and all the tools you need to succeed. So I built my sports car site, and it is now in the top one percent of websites as verified by Alexa. It isn't much of a money spinner because it is really a site for tire-kickers, rather than people who want to spend money. I do make a bit from Google ads, and the occasional poster or calendar sale. It more than pays for itself, and gives me a bit of pocket money, but it will never replace my day job. It is fun though. With what I learnt from SBI I thought I could build my Alzheimer's site myself and do it cheaper. Big Mistake! I've partly built the site (there's still a long way to go), it's online. What I didn't count on was all the extra learning I had to do; all the extra effort and time just to build the site. There's extra cost too. If I want a newsletter that's a minimum of $120/year, and keyword research which is absolutely essential could easily cost $240/year. (Okay, I cheat and use my SBI keyword research tools for this site.) Was it worth going the non-SBI route? Not really, It's ending up costing more, its been a lot tougher and it's taken a lot longer and will keep taking longer while I keep finding new things I have to learn. For example, if I want a form in SBI I just go to form builder and build it as easy as anything. With this site, yes I can make a form, but I still haven't worked out how to get the info to my email account. It's going to take a bit to nut this one out, time I could be spending building more content, which is the lifeblood of websites. Then there's submitting to search engines. I have to do it manually, updating my Google sitemap etc, which is all handled automatically by SBI. That's all time I could be writing content. There's a lot more, but you've got the idea by now I'm sure. I will be building more websites, and I'll be doing it with Site Build It. If you want to turn your interests or your expertise into internet income, and you're willing to work at it, you can do it. I'd suggest that you check out Site Build It though. In my experience it will be quicker, easier, cheaper in the long run, and you're much more likely to succeed than if you try to do everything yourself. Another thing, if you have early Alzheimer's, or want to prevent Alzheimer's, building a website even with SBI is great mental exercise. Keep Fighting!I really do wish you all the best in your fight against Alzheimer's disease. I hope that this website helps you in that fight. Remember that many, many people have gained years of quality life, and some have even beaten this disease. Don't give up! Warren Newson |
